it didn’t win tonight at the oscars -the social network- i was disappointed but pleased that – the king’s speech – did win.. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jose-antonio-vargas/the-social-network-hollyw_b_747233.html – “the social disconnect – how hollywood misread facebook” by jose antonio vargas. this article appeared in huffpost on oct 1, 2010 but is relavant to read today. it actually gives me a clearer insight into the film that i thought was so brilliant. it was what it was but did it have or give any insight into what the world of facebook really is & means to those who are regulars & use social networking for as many different reasons as there are people on facebook or twitter or linkedin & the list goes on. do we social networkers share too much information? are we addicted? i remember watching the interviews with the makers of this film..most said they checked facebook out but ended their accounts once they finished shooting the film. they really didn’t get it..neither does the movie. they don’t get what mark zuckerberg has done & is doing by continually creating facebook. facebook is an amazing place in cyberspace that takes you on the ride of your life. it helps revolutionaries connect. it reunites people you’ve lost from your past. it connects you with new friends from all parts of the world. it becomes what you create it to be. there are endless possibilities. facebook is like the chameleon changing colors with each new addition to its ever-widening augmentations. i am one of the over 500,000,000 million and growing members of facebook who is addicted to the drug in which it is legally pushing.
